Bedfordshire University
The University of Luton and De Montfort University’s Bedford campus combined forces in August 2006 to create the University of Bedfordshire. The University is the largest provider of undergraduate and postgraduate education in Bedfordshire, and provides excellent opportunities for more people to access top quality higher education. Since the merger, the University of Bedfordshire has achieved great success. The Guardian newspaper has placed Bedfordshire third in the country for Media related courses and 12th for Sport. The University of Bedfordshire has also moved up the league tables 6 places for Nursing, to 30th in the UK. There has also been a 41.2 per cent increase in the number of applications, which places Bedfordshire at the top of the universities league table, according to UCAS. The University of Bedfordshire has invested £60m into improving both campuses and the facilities that each offers. The recent redevelopments have provided excellent opportunities for their students to achieve success at degree level.
