Design plays an essential role in our everyday lives - from the way we communicate with each other, to the way we interact with our environment. The course is aimed at developing technical mastery and benefits from state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. An important aspect of the degree is gaining industrial experience within the area of design. Students are able to converse and learn from real life professional projects and visiting speakers with national and international reputations. The course is based in the Design Centre, a dedicated space that has benefited from over £1.5million investment in the last two years.

The Design Centre provides some of the best equipped studios and workshops of their kind, with state-of-the-art equipment and constantly updated industry standard software. There are several main computer labs containing Macs and PCs, and open access computing facilities in each studio. State-of-the-art laser cutting, 3D scanning and rapid prototyping equipment further enhance cutting edge digital technology.
