The environment is one of the major challenges that face the world in the 21st century. Studying at Sunderland allows development of expertise in both environmental management and health and safety. Students are taught both by academics and practitioners. Guest speakers give a unique insight into the practicalities and opportunities of organisational change.

Teaching is underpinned by the University’s prestigious research and consultancy units. These include the Centre for Environmental Informatics, the Air Quality Research Group, the Renewable Energy Centre, the Ecology Centre and INTEGRA environmental consultancy.
