Health and Social Care helps you to an understanding of how British society identifies and deals with health and care issues. Today British society faces hard decisions about the purpose, responsibility for, cost and delivery of health and social care. Students will reflect upon the increasingly complex and conditional nature of this area during the last 20 years, and also address the nature of welfare provision today. The programme is very much in the business of teaching applied health and social care, however it also equips students with the theoretical, conceptual and analytical skills required within multi-agency and multi-disciplinary vocational settings.
The programme is taught along the strands of Health Studies, Sociology/Social Policy; and Social Work. It also uses the library, which has a wide range of texts and journals, as well as database and electronic research information. There is also 24-hour access to award-winning computing facilities.
