Students studying music at Sunderland will develop their musical skills through modules that encompass a wide range of musical activities including performance studies, composing and arranging music, listening, appraising and the creative use of music technology. The emphasis in all modules is to develop students’ understanding of contemporary approaches to music making and their potential to produce imaginative practical work. Students will also have opportunities to observe music groups in community contexts, develop musical leadership skills and implement their own music projects within and outside of the university as a core element of their study.
The accommodation for music has recently been refurbished to provide rehearsal rooms; three dedicated music teaching rooms; a recording studio, music technology studios; practice rooms; video edit and viewing facilities.
