The nursing programme has many elements which include health promotion and public health, management of chronic heart failure, clinical skills for nurses, practice development, palliative care and dementia care, drug and alcohol use, management of long term conditions and more. The course aims to develop not just theoretical knowledge, but also the practical skills to make a bigger contribution to the students’ chosen fields.
Sunderland University has strong partnerships with local authorities and hospitals; these provide wide-ranging opportunities to develop students’ experience and research. Health professionals and community organisations contribute to the management and delivery of the nursing programmes, ensuring that what students learn is relevant to their future career.
