Politics at Sunderland offers a wide range of modules, with specialist areas including Britain, the United States, International Relations and Political Theory. The course aims to provide historical and theoretical contexts in the core modules. Politics modules include many different aspects, so there is a wide range of choice available in the course so that every topic area can be covered thoroughly by the student picking the most relevant ones to them.

The teaching and learning facilities for Politics at Sunderland are excellent, with most teaching taking place in the newly-refurbished Priestman Building. The library has a wide range of texts and journals, as well as database and electronic research information. There is also 24-hour access to award-winning computing facilities.
