Tourism is both a cultural activity and the world’s biggest single industry. In Britain alone it directly supports 1.7 million jobs and accounts for about 5% of GDP. Tourism equips students with the knowledge and skills to work in tourism, but also with transferable skills with a much wider value. Students can move on to management in a tourist attraction, learn how to set up their own tourism business, or work in tourism development and strategy. Throughout the course, students will get the opportunity to listen to guest speakers from industry and tourism attractions and agencies.
The course was developed in close collaboration with consultants from industry and maintains strong links with the tourism industry across the region. The university also has links in Europe due to the participation in European Union tourism development programmes.
Modules are available in Tourism and Sport, Urban Tourism, E-Tourism, International Hospitality Management, Mass Tourism, Ecotourism and much more.
